On Wednesday, April 27, at Glosapalooza in Chicago, 75 participants gathered at the Chicago Yacht Club on the shores of Lake Michigan and online to hear from leaders in the lake and ocean mapping community across academic, government, nonprofit, and private sectors.
The event was a part of Lakebed 2030, the effort to map the Great Lakes at high-density. Speakers discussed the strategy, funding, and technology needed to fully map the Great Lakes. Participants and speakers represented government leaders, private industry, nonprofits, and academic researchers.
