National Park Service Discoveries

In 2010 the National Park Service (NPS), with financial support from the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative, began mapping their Great Lakes underwater parklands in search of lake trout spawning reefs, sand movement and deposition, and submerged cultural resources. In addition to finding the expected results, they also discovered possible submerged glacial features and clues to the history of the name of Marina Shoal in the Apostle Islands!
