The results of the western Lake Michigan prioritization conducted by NCCOS May 2018. Map a. displays the sum of total coins assigned to individual cells. Map b. displays the cells that received the highest number of coins based on the highest justifications for mapping. Map c. displays number of coins distributed to cells based on similar attributed interests.
The BMW will be working jointly with the National Center for Coastal Ocean Science (NCCOS) on a participatory GIS project to determine stakeholder mapping needs throughout the Great Lakes. We will be using a prioritization tool developed by NCCOS that creates individual data layers based on a predetermined grid in which participants direct the location, types, products, and justifications for the maps they need.
Prior to this, NCCOS used the prioritization tool in the Long Island Sound, western Lake Michigan, and Washington State which resulted in a multi-year mapping project.
